Readers Journal
After I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone I understood why it was so popular. While it has as close to no real world items and methods of doing things it excels in being able to let the reader understand all the wacky new things the "wizarding world" has to offer. As long as you read normally and don't skip anything you should be able to understand everything the author tries to add because she is able to add it in, in a logical way and explain it in detail so that your never lost. She is also very creative with what she adds in and really was able to enter a new realm of imagination and take anyone who reads the book into the same realm. With all these new rules and creative items she doesn't make that the whole selling point to her books. The characters of Harry Potter all have their own unique personality and backstories and are able to act like real people with all the unique techniques added in. Every characters have their own way of doing things and their own important in the story whether it to move the plot or add a little fun into the story, they are able to fit in perfectly without being redundant. Also the story of Harry Potter can keep you interested enough to read through all the filler just to get to the conclusion. While most of the important story scene take place at the beginning and end of the book, the middle part of them being at school lets you get to know the characters and feel with them since your as clueless in the story as they are. The stories of all the books tie together so well that you won't be able to skip books and know anything about whats happening making every book important to the whole story. After I read the first book I had to keep reading the series. Harry Potter is popular for a reason and the first book is a great starter for the success of the franchise. It makes you want to read more because of the ties you have with the characters and the interest of the story and the new addition of items you never thought about, that is what got me into it. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone made you feel the same way Harry felt in every way. To the wonders of what a wizard is and can do, the feeling of amazement when you first read about Hogwarts, the feeling of dread whenever Harry was in danger and the curiosity when Harry found some clues. The book mixes in all kinds of feelings into a book that will give you entertainment and leave you wanting more. Overall, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone has become my favorite book and for good reason and ever since I read the book I've continued to read the entire series and have never felt my time being wasted and never had the thought of it was wasting my time.
